Mahmoud Anabtawi

Dean, College of Arts and Sciences, American University of Sharjah

Professor Mahmoud Anabtawi has been the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at American University of Sharjah (AUS) since 2013, leading the most diverse college at AUS with approximately 150 faculty members and 30 staff members in eight different departments offering 15 Bachelor, Master, and PhD programs. He has led 10 consecutive years of growth in the college in which undergraduate student enrollment increased by almost 40% and graduate enrollment increased by more than 90% and saw the addition of several new undergraduate and graduate programs. During his tenure, the annual research expenditure and research output increased significantly, and established the state-of-the-art Materials Science and Engineering Research Center. In addition, he has initiated and led the major renovation and construction of the Chemistry and the Humanities and Social Sciences buildings. 

He also served as the Head of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at AUS. Professor Anabtawi joined AUS in 2002 from Tennessee State University, where he was a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics and Physics and Research Associate at the Center of Excellence in ISEM. Professor Anabtawi earned his PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Texas at Arlington (1998) and has taught graduate and undergraduate Mathematics courses for more than 20 years in the US and the UAE. 

Professor Anabtawi is a member of the American Mathematical Society and member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Stochastic Analysis and Applications published by Taylor and Francis
