Dr. Awad is a Partner in Boston Consulting Group (BCG). He leads the Smart Cities topic in BCG globally, and is a core member of the senior leadership of Technology and Digital Advantage and the Public Sector Practices, with over 15 years of experience in consulting, telecommunications, and technology.
Since joining BCG, Dr. Awad has shaped the tech & digital strategies for prominent clients, predominantly in the Middle East. He advises regional leaders on harnessing national data with AI to propel economies, societies, and foster citizen-centric Smart Cities. His influence extends to crafting national Data, AI, and Smart City strategies, as well as catalyzing AI-powered policy development across government sectors.
In the realm of AI, Dr. Awad has also been at the helm of initiating and driving several international AI initiatives, including the prominent Global AI Summit. His work consistently emphasizes the criticality of steering AI with responsibility and ethical considerations at its core. His vision underscores AI's potential for positive societal impact, always championing an approach that positions AI as a force for good.
Prior to joining BCG, Dr. Awad worked with several telco and tech firms covering clients in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
As an Adjunct Professor at IE, Dr. Awad inspires young entrepreneurs by highlighting the role of technology in shaping future societies. He emphasizes innovative digital business models and promotes a culture of sustainable innovation.
Dr. Awad holds a PhD in Information Systems and an MBA in Global Management.
