Dr. Abdulaziz Almalik serves as the Deputy Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture for Research and Innovation, where he leads pivotal initiatives to advance research, development, and innovation across the Kingdom's environmental, water, and agricultural sectors. With a wealth of experience in innovation policymaking and management, Dr. Almalik has held prominent positions, including Vice President of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) for both Scientific Research Support and Innovation Commercialization Affairs. He has also served as the Director of the Environment and Life Sciences Research Institute and as a Research Professor in Pharmaceutical Sciences at KACST. In addition, he played a key role as Deputy Chairman of KACST’s Scientific Council, where his efforts helped shape the strategic direction of KACST, focusing on transforming scientific advancements into tangible solutions that drive national development.
Dr. Abdulaziz Almalik has a distinguished record of service on numerous boards and national committees, both past and present, including, the BoDs of the National Research and Development Center for Sustainable Agriculture (ESTIDAMAH), the BoDs of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, the BoDs of the Saudi Institute for Health Research (Saudi NIH), the National Committee of Bioethics (NCBE) and the National Committee of Education, Culture, and Science.
Dr. Almalik holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Manchester (2013), a Master’s degree in Clinical Pharmacy from the University of Glasgow (2008), and a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from King Saud University (2005). His academic accomplishments have earned him the rank of Professor in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Throughout his career, Dr. Almalik has led numerous high-impact national research, development, and innovation programs and initiatives, contributing significantly to the local scientific community. He has published over 50 research papers in respected journals and holds several patents.
