Abdulaziz Almalik
Deputy Minister for Research and Innovation, Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in KSA
Dr. Almalik is currently serving as the Deputy Minister for Research and Innovation at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in Saudi Arabia. Prior to his current role, he held various positions in innovation policy and management including Vice-President for Scientific Research Support, Vice[1]President for Innovation and Technology Commercialization, Director of the Life Sciences and Environmental Research Institute, Vice-Chair of the Scientific Council, and a Research Professor of Pharmaceutical sciences at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology from 2015 to 2023. He also served as a Senior Adviser to the Governor and a member of the founding team of the Saudi Research, Development and Innovation Authority.
Dr. Almalik is currently serving as the Chair of the National Committee of Bioethics (NCBE) a Member of the National Committee for Education Culture and Science, a Member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Institute for Health Research (Saudi NIH), and a Member of the Governing Board of Almarai Prize for Scientific Innovation. He has also served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, a Member of the Steering Committee of Science 20 Saudi Arabia G20 2020 Presidency and Vice-Chair of KACST Scientific Council. He has Contributed to the development of multiple innovation strategies and has spearheaded the execution of a plethora of national research, development, and innovation programs.
Dr. Almalik is a Research Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences. His research interests include biomaterials, drug delivery, and innovation policy. Throughout his research career, Dr. Almalik accumulated extensive knowledge and practical experience in intellectual property generation, acquisition, and management, holding over 40 publications in leading scientific journals and several patents.
