Malak Abed Al-Thagafi

Professor at Emory School of Medicine, Founder and CSO- Shomool LLC

Dr. Malak is an American board-certified physician-scientist in Clinical Pathology, Anatomical Pathology, Neuropathology and Molecular Genetics Pathology. She studied and worked at Georgetown, University of California San Francisco, Stanford, Johns Hopkins and Harvard. She’s a national and international awards winner in her field and published over 120 papers in peer review journals and conferences. Currently, she is a full professor in Pathology, Molecular Genetics, and Neuropathology at Emory School of Medicine, Chair of genomic research, founder of the Saudi genome satellite site, and consultant physician at King Fahad medical city (KFMC), part-time faculty at Baylor College of Medicine, she worked before as junior faculty at Harvard faculty in Medicine and in multiple leadership positions at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology. She is the founder of the Center for Individualized Diagnostics I-Gen (Genomic Startup Company, first international company accepted in illumine accelerator in San Francisco) and Shomool (A biotech company and one of the 5 finalists to Future Investment initiative in 2022).
