Lamya Al Haj

Assistant Professor, Sultan Qaboos University, Oman

Dr. Al Haj is an Associate professor at SQU with a Ph.D. in Structural & Molecular Biology from University College London (UCL) and an MSc in Environmental Science and Technology from UNSW (Australia) where she received the prestigious award “Boban Marcovic Prize in Environmental Science” in 2006. She is an award-winning scientist with tens of awards in recognition of her contribution to science, including the “L’Oréal-UNESCO Award for Woman in Science- Middle East Fellowship” 2018, a member of the World Academy of Science (2019-2025) and more recently selected by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader 2020. 

​Apart from her passion for lecturing and scientific research, she thoroughly enjoys public speaking and frequently represents the Sultanate at both national and international meetings. She had the privilege to present her research findings and motivational talks in many conferences around the world including the UK, Poland, France, Germany, Lebanon,Gulf states,  South Africa, China, Taiwan, Pakistan, Singapore, Canada, and the USA. More recently, she has been invited to deliver several inspirational and motivational talks both locally and internationally targeted to the youth and woman. A topic and audience that are both very dear to her heart. She is also the co-Founder of her company Coach4 Change.
