Using c-Rel proteins to diagnose and possibly treat lymphoma and pancreatic cancers

Eslam Katab

PhD candidate at Technical University of Munich, Klinikum Rechts der Isa

Eslam Katab is a researcher and PhD candidate completing his research in Germany, with a master’s in biology from Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, and a bachelor’s in pharmacy from Cairo University. His current program is in experimental medicine in the lab

of Dr. Vanesa Fernandez-Saiz at the Institute of translational cancer research (TranslaTUM) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). The project subject of the award focuses on identifying the post-translational regulation of the human protein c-REL in the context of lymphoma and pancreatic cancer. It is possible that by studying this protein, this will improve the earlier diagnoses of these cancers as well as allow for a possible treatment with design inhibitor drugs across diverse therapeutic areas.
